When our reader Cortney sent in plea to help her natural waves magically take on Gisele’s beachy texture (a common request I get from all my girlfriends), I knew that hair wizard David John of the Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon was the man to figure it out for her. Check out her question and his great advice, after the jump!
“I have long, naturally wavy hair, but I am always either curling or straightening it as I can’t ever seem to perfect that boho beachy texture (see: Gisele). What can I do to get that defined, piece-y, touchable look?
“The best product I’ve found is Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Creme for fine hair. It supports and enhances wave and gives piece-y definition without being sticky, stiff or greasy. When styling put a quarter-size amount in your damp hair and then take 1 1/2 inch sections of hair and twist the hair from the roots to the ends. Next, let air dry completely or blow dry with a diffuser. And, finally, rake fingers gently through your hair to loosen up the twists.”
Thanks David! As a wavy-haired lady, I can definitely back up that twisting tip. It’s the only thing that gets my hair into defined, uniform waves instead of the mad chaos that is its natural state. But I confess I haven’t tried that cream yet—and now I really want to!
